Abstract

Objective: The objective of this case study was to recognize the probable dangers that affects the operation of a resort. The researchers had chosen one
resort as the case study and used qualitative method. This case study shows the safety, security, and sanitation were the utmost substantial risks could
affect the sustainability of the resort’s operation.

This case study will show safety, security, and sanitation of SMA Beatrice Water Fun Resort. The data gained by the
researchers would be useful to determine if there are dangers that effects the operation of the resort. The case study will
be beneficial to the following:

This case study can be useful to other resort owners with the knowledge and information they can acquire about
the history, backgrounds, benefits, and drawbacks of a resort. Furthermore, this may serve as a guide for the future
researchers related to the topic.

The SMA Beatrice Water Fun Resort had been operating for five (5) years and it is located
at B. Vizcarra St. Malibay, Pasay City

The importance of safety, security, and sanitation in the risk and crisis management of the
resort is clearly evident. Safety and security are basic prerequisites for the positive
development of destinations’ tourism sector (Reisinger and Mavondo, 2005)

The case study approach allows in-depth, multi-faceted explorations of complex issues in their real-
life settings (Sarah Crowe, Kathrin Cresswell, Ann Robertson, Guro Huby, Anthony Avery, and Aziz
Sheikh, 2011).
The method that the researchers used in the case study is mixed data research, it is design to collect
and analyze the data through conducting an interview. This research design is attained by asking
questions to the participant/s. The participant of this case study is the manager/owner of the SMA
Beatrice Waterfun Resort, Mrs. Cifra. The instrument that the researchers used in the study are
interview questionnaires to get further information about the resort. The interview questionnaire will be
used to know the safety, security, and sanitation of the resort.

Maintenance, and Security)

where is it located and how many are, they in all?

Results and Discussions
• Resort
The Resort has been operating for 5 years. The Resort has two main entrance and exit gate. They have 9 employees and IDs are not available/used. Summer is the
peak season of the resort. They have smoking area designated

• Pool
For the Adult, the pools its 4-6 ft. and for the Kids its only 3.5ft There is no slide in the pool. They have 3 public shower room & 3 open showers. They have no
swimming lessons and training sessions unless personally rented for such purpose. Overnight swimming starts at 8 pm until 4 am.

• Emergency
The resort doesn’t have their own emergency vehicle but private vehicles are available in case of emergency. They don’t have a doctor on call. San Juan de Dios is
the nearest hospital. There is no emergency hotline except the national liners. There is an available first aid kit and life guard. The resort stated that there are no
cases of drowning nor untoward incident happened. They didn’t implemented an emergency management plan. They have adequate provision of emergency power in
case of electrical outrage. They have no smoke detectors of their rooms.

• Foods & Drinks


Bringing of food inside the resort is allowed. Liquor is not prioritized and they have also their own bar. In case of unpleasant behavior from guests, the resort have
people to control and monitor them. The resort offers foods and they use the leftovers for dog food or segregated in trash.

• Maintenance
Maintenance schedule is observed to maintain the cleanliness of the pool, the rooms, the comfort rooms, and the resort. There is a sufficient number of garbage are
collected daily. The resort conducts pest control whenever its needed.

• Security
There are no security guards but Brgy. Tanods are always in the area. The resort have 15 CCTV/s.
