The funeral ceremony is divided into 2 processions:
1. The funeral Procession or Rante is composed of
sequential events. The Funeral Procession
(Rante) was held in a field located in the middle of
the Tongkonan Traditional House complex. These
programs include:
-Ma’Tudan Mebalun, which is the process of wrapping
bodies
-Ma’Roto, namely the process of decorating a coffin
using gold thread and silver thread.
-Ma'Popengkalo Alang, which is the process of paring
the body that has been wrapped into a barn to be
buried.
-Ma’Palao or Ma’Pasonglo, which is the process of
bringing the body from the Tongkonan House area

2. The second procession is the Performing Arts. This procession
was carried out not only to enliven but also as a form of respect
and prayer for people who had died. In the Procession
Performing arts You can see:
-The procession of buffaloes that will become sacrifices
-Performances of several regional music, namely Pa’Pompan,
Pa’Dali-dali, and Unnosong.
-Performances of some traditional dances, such as Pa'Badong,
Pa'Dondi, Pa'Randing, Pa'katia, Pa'Papanggan, Passailo and
Pa'Silaga Tedong.
-The show of Adu Kerbau, before the buffaloes were sacrificed.-
Slaughtering buffaloes as sacrificial animals.

*Best time to catch the ritual: The schedule for this festival is
tentative as every family holds their ceremony on different
dates. Peak seasons are in June, August and September.
Makula
A big party needs big money, and to be ready
for the expenses, Torajans may need to save
up their money for years. So, before the ritual
is hold, the body of the dead person will be
kept in the house and treated as a sick
person which is known as "makula".
Creepily enough, the "makula" will be fed,
talked to, and played with like a living person.
And this is totally normal for the Torajan
people, and is a very common practice.
