PHILIPPINE PRE-COLONIAL LITERATURE

• First period of the Philippine literary

• The subject was invariably the common
experience of the people .
• Most common forms of oral literature like riddle,
the proverbs and the song.
EARLY LITERATURE IN THE PHILIPPINES

•The early inhabitants of the Philippines

archipelago had a native alphabet which
among the Tagalog called BAYBAYIN.

and utilize the talinghaga, a form of
metaphor whose signification eventually
conveys the meaning of the answer to the
riddle.

And damit ay sari-sari.

English. The group will
present their riddles and
the other groups will
answer all the riddles.
