CAUSES OF SPECIES

EXTINCTION
CHANGES IN SEA LEVEL OR
CURRENTS

The ocean floor spreading

and rising can displace a lot
of water into the land that
is already occupied.
ACID RAIN
Caused by a chemical reaction that begins
when compounds like sulfur dioxides and
nitrogen oxide are released into the air. These
substances can rise very high into the
atmosphere, where they mix and react with
water, oxygen, and other chemicals to form
more acidic pollutants ( ACID RAIN)
DISEASES/ EPIDEMICS

Diseases can
devastate
populations
DEFORESTATION
Removal of a forest or stand
of trees where the land is
thereafter converted to a
non-forest use.
INVASIVE (Nonnative) SPECIES
These alien species can either be
deliberately or accidentally introduced
in a new area. This results in a
competition for resources between the
native species and nonnative species ,
triggering ecological disruptions or
economic losses.
POLLUTION
Introduce unnatural
chemicals that contaminate
our air, soil, and seas,
interferes with the
metabolism of animals and
they are unable to cope.
OVERPOPULATION

Rapid growth of the human

population has resulted in the
increase of human need for
earth’s resources
