Closed angle glaucoma (angle-closure glaucoma) is a type of glaucoma
caused by sudden and severe eye pressures. This occurs when the pupil dilates too much or too fast, and the outer edges of the iris block the drainage canal of the eye. With a closed angle of glaucoma, the iris is not as wide and open as it should be. Risk Factor • Age History of family members affected by glaucoma. For certain types of glaucoma, family members with glaucoma are 6 times more likely to develop glaucoma • Eye pressure above 21 mmHg • Drugs Users of steroids on a regular basis for example: Users of eye drops containing steroids that are not controlled by a doctor, inhaler drugs for asthma sufferers, steroid drugs for arthritis and other steroid use users on a regular basis. • History of trauma (wound accidents) on the eyes. • Other diseases History of cataract disease, diabetes mellitus, hypertension and migraine.
