particular period of time is known as Loan. In
general, loans are granted by the banks and
financial institutions. It is an obligation which
needs to be repaid back after the expiry of the
stipulated period.

BACKGROUND OF SCAM OF
BDBL
The team of inspectors of central bank got a lots of illegals and irregularities from
Bangladesh Development Bank Limited. The bank has had issues with loan defaulting, as of
2018, the total defaulted loans at the bank stood at 23.32 billion taka. On 11 June 2019, the
Anti-Corruption Commission sued for officials of the bank for allegedly embezzling 250
million taka from the bank.

Tk. 25 crore was disbursed to a trader in 2012 complying with the
details illustrated in a forged LC (Letter of Credit). Allegedly a business
firm called Dhaka Trading House has taken away all this money from
BDBL by means of a counterfeit LC and fraudulent import papers.

KNITWEAR LIMITED
Urmee Knitwear Limited, which the company was incorporate on 2006. The
company was collected capital through loan from BDBL. The branches of
BDBL disbursed the loan to the company and which total loan amount is
20,180,000,000/= (Two thousand eighteen crore taka).

Shamsul Hoque, the General Manager and many more person involved
to taking the loan from BDBL.
 Others company has not available or does not continue their company,
who's took the loan through installments from BDBL.
So, It is impossible to take legal action due to cannot find them.
SUGGESTIONS
 It will manage the controlled corruption in the whole banking system.
 The monitoring system of Bangladesh Bank should be strengthened further
and its audit and inspection teams should be empowered to work
independently.
 Significant reforms are necessary in financial and banking management which
have been long overdue. A finance and banking reforms commission may be
set up.
 Duties, responsibilities and powers of the Board and the management of a
bank must be clearly delineated and enforced.
