Thus, the eight core courses (24 units) identified in CMO 20, along with the mandated course on Rizal’s Life and Works based on Republic Act 1425 (3 units), will be taught starting AY 2018 – 2019; 1. Understanding the Self/Pag-unawa sa Sarili 2. Readings in Philippine History/Mga Babasahin Hinggil sa Kasaysayan ng Pilipinas 3. The Contemporary World/Ang Kasalukuyang Daigdig 4. Mathematics in the Modern World/Matematika sa Makabagong Daigdid 5. Purposive Communication/Malayuning Komunikasyon 6. Art Appreciation/Pagpapahalaga sa Sining 7. Science, Technology, and Society/Agham, Teknolohiya, at Lipunan 8. The Life and Works of Rizal/Ang Buhay at mga Akda ni Rizal While the TRO is in effect and while awaiting the Supreme Court’s resolution of the case, the inclusion of 9 units of GE electives starting Academic Year 2018 – 2019 as prescribed in CMO 20, series of 2013, is hereby deferred in order to provide flexibility in the GE curriculum, until further notice from the Commission. At the same time, HEIs must include Filipino and Panitikan as core courses in the General Education Curriculum during the effectivity of the TRO issued by the Supreme Court.
This clarification is being issued to allow HEIs to plan for the
offering of undergraduate curricula in AY 2018 – 2019 based on CMO 20, series of 2013, subject to the TRO issued by the Supreme Court, and the new Policies, Standards and Guidelines that the Commission has issued recently, and others that it may issue in the near future.
