ME-STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING
SRI KRISHNA COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY
 Reinforced concrete beams are structural elements
that are designed to carry transverse external loads
which cause bending moment, shear force and torsion.
 The beams support the loads from slabs, other beams
and columns and transfer the loads to the columns
supporting them.
 The column is a compression member designed to
resist lateral forces.
 The design of reinforced concrete beam, column and
slab includes the estimation of cross section
dimension and reinforcement area to resist the applied
loads.
 The design of beam, column and slab is carried out in
MS Excel. Analysis of the Residential and Industrial
Building is done using STAAD Pro.
RESIDENTIAL BUILDING:
 Residential building is located at Saibaba Colony
which is Stilt +4 floors building.
 Each floor has 2 dwelling units having 1250 square feet
of each unit.
 Height of the building is 15 m including the head
room.
 The type of construction carried out is framed type of
construction.
INDUSTRIAL BUILDING:
 Industrial building consists of 4 number of bays.
 The length and breadth of the industrial building
are 28 m and 20 m respectively.
 Height of the building is 7 m.
 The objective of this project is to know the analysis
of building as per Indian standard codes, Building
by Laws and National Building codes.
 It also covers the knowledge of column marking,
construction process, calculations, measurements,
etc.,
 To understand the ideas about the different
structural elements in the construction sites.

 A Church building located at
Kavundampalayam.
 An Apartment Building situated at Saibaba
Colony.
 Residential building is located at Saibaba Colony
which is Stilt +4 floors building.
 Each floor has 2 dwelling units having 1250 square
feet of each unit.
 Height of the building is 15 m including the head
room.
 The type of construction carried out is framed type
of construction.
 The depth of foundation is 16 feet due to poor soil
condition and heavy columns.
 The dimension of footing is 8 feet x 8 ¾feet and
the depth of footing is 2 ½feet.
 The size of the beam used in ground floor is 1feet x
2 ½feet and inverted beam is also used in this
building.
 Diameter of rod used for column is 25 mm and 12
number of bars are used for corner column of the
building.
 Four sizes of column used in this building are 1
½feet x 2 ¼ feet, ¾feet x 1 ¼ feet, 2feet x 1 feet and
9 inches x 9inches for corner column, remaining
column, middle column and bell column of the
building respectively. The spacing between the
columns are 11 feet 10 inches.
RESIDENTIAL BUILDING:
 The placing of columns with parking constraints
and designing the structure with economical
sections are clearly understood. With the help of
offset command, positioning of beams on different
areas of the cross section of columns was totally a
new concept.
INDUSTRIAL BUILDING:
 The loads (Dead Load, Live Load and Wind load)
on steel structures with different wind intensities
varying with respect to height and topographic
location of the building is studied.
CHURCH BUILDING:
 The practical idea about “A” shaped roof and a bell
hanging under an “A” roof is obtained. Practically
saw the Inverted beam, concealed beam and the
form work of beams for slanting roofs.
RESIDENTIAL BUILDING:
 Practically saw the positioning of beams on
columns which was done with offset command in
StaadPro. Clarified the doubts on beams extended
over column on the outer side of the building.
 At the end of the training, it feels that, this is a
necessary part of our profession. All the activities
which we did during the In – Plant Training period
are the strong conceptual beginning towards the
professional work.
 It is concluded that a clear view about the design,
analysis and execution of the concrete buildings
and steel structure are gained due to the Training.
