7705 Product Overview
7705 Product Overview
The 7705 SAR-F has a standard, dual terminal block (four terminals)
attached to the front of the chassis
The terminals provide access for two independent power feeds,
allowing power redundancy for the system
When only one power feed is used, the system does not have power
supply redundancy
The power system has no field-replaceable parts
-48 VDC and +24 VDC are supported
IEEE SyncE is supported on SFP based ethernet ports that are populated with
optical SFPs (not supported on copper ports/SFPs)
SAR-F has 1588v2 HW readiness across all Ethernet ports (Available in R2.1)
SAR-F is equipped with 5 built-in fans that are not field replaceable
A critical alarm is raised if two or more fan failures are detected, and
SAR-F must be serviced

CSM
Stat Act
● The 7705 supports CSM redundancy when two CSMs (active and standby) are
installed
● The first CSM card installed, in slot A or B, becomes the active; the next CSM
installed becomes the hot-standby
● Preference is given to the CSM in slot A if two are installed and initialized at
the same time
● Configuration and learned state on the active CSM are buffered and
propagated over the GigE matelink to the standby CSM. When the active CSM
fails, these features are brought up on the standby CSM that takes over the
mastership
● Operational protocols and services stay up and the standby CSM transparently
takes over from the formerly active CSM. When the CSM that went offline
comes back online, it assumes the role of the standby
CSM Switch-over
Automatic
Fault causes the active CSM to crash or reboot
Active CSM is not responding and is declared down
Removal of the active CSM

7705 Service Aggregation Router
SAR-8: 12 Port Serial Data Interface (SDI) Card
The E&M analog voice card transports voiceband analog between two
analog devices
Converts the incoming signal into a digital PCM format (64kb/s) using either
μ-Law or A-Law
Selectable on a per-card basis
Maps the traffic into an MPLS TDM pseudowire (c-pipe)
Multiple pseudowires may originate on the card (1 per port)
The 7705 SAR has two power connectors mounted on the front of the
chassis
The connectors provide access to two independent -48 or +24 VDC
power feeds, providing power redundancy for the system
The power system has no field replaceable parts
The Fan module provides cooling for the system, as well as alarm
indicators (LEDs), an external alarm I/O connector, and an Audible
Alarm Cutoff/Lamp Test (ACO/LT) pushbutton
Normal Operating Temperature of -5°C to 45°C
Cooling system uses eight 40mm fans
Power Cables 2W2 connector at one end and open-ended wires at the
-Maximum 10A circuit breaker other end with black and blue wires together. Can be
- Minimum #18AWG power conductor ordered in 4, 8, and 12 meter length.

Port Attributes
Type options: DS3 or E3
Each port’s transmit clock may be configured as loop-timed or node-timed
Loop-timed recovers sync from the port’s Rx line
Node-timed syncs with the SSU of the active CSM
Default setting is node-timed
Any port’s receive clock rate may be used as a system synchronization source
(only two may be configured per mda but configuring two require the new
CSM)
Channelization
DS3 ports supports clear channel or channelization to DS1/E1 (down to
DS0/64kbps) operation
E3 ports support clear channel operation only

The current application uses a separate access mux (36XX) for voice,
low speed data and a 7270 to provide the L2 networking capability
The 7705 will combine the functions of a TDM (3600), ATM (7270), into a
single box that provides CAPEX and OPEX savings as well as resiliency
functionality provided by the MPLS networking

Currently a 3600 is used as an access mux for voice and low speed data
Either a 7270/7470 or 7250 to provide the L2 networking capability
The 7705 serves as a combination access/networking node at remote
sites
The 7705 operates as an LSR to provide fast re-route (FRR) as well as
pseudowire redundancy
Most of the traffic is homed on a central control center which would house a
7710 or 7750 to provide the service routing functionality
