OBJECTIVES OF INTERNSHIP

• To experience the Field work as an Engineer.

• To learn Table or Desk work at Office.
• To interact and communicate with professionals at site and sharing of knowledge
with those persons.
• To get opportunities to lean and develop skills and face the new types of
Challenges that arise.
• To maintain the discipline, rules & regulations among the labors and contractors.
• To maintain and assure the quality control at site.
• To prepare a documents of quantity, progress report, schedule
SCOPE OF INTERNSHIP

• Supervision at the site.

• Measurement of site as per the specified in the design and drawing.
• Seismic study and vulnerable analysis of structure and their fixing the
methods for prevention .
• Meson conduction on site and quantity and quality control of materials.
• Preparation of Bills of quotation works.
• Bar bending sheddule prepration for splint-bandage and tie-beam
• Measurement Of Reinforcement , concrete, brick and other works.
DESCRIPTIOPN OF THE WORK
The work that has te be done on the site was as follows:
 Desk study and office work was done before starting the work at site.
 Seismic study of the building and identifications of damage .
 Marking of the damaged portions and measuring the risk of that damage by
vulnerability assessment.
 Applying the designed parameter of retrofitting to the structure and
performing the retrofitting process.
 Calculation for the quantity of materials like sand, cement , aggregate and
reinforcement, tools equipment and safety belts and other safety major.
 Removing of plaster and excavation for new tie-beam.
 Applying of reinforcement work beam , splint and bandage
DESK AND OFFICE STUDY AND DISSCUSSION
DISSCUSSION WITH MASONS AND LABOR
IDENTIFICATIONS OF DAMAGE AND MARKING
REMOVING OF PLASTER
EXCAVATION FOR NEW TIE-BEAM
PLACING OF TIE BEAM AND SPLINT
CONCLUSION

Retrofitting is the process of strengthening a seismically damage or vulnerable

weak structure by applying various method of retrofitting, in this building project
after the retrofitting work it is expected that the performance of the building will be
same as a new building and will be safe and economic.
It is also expected that this method of retrofitting will be continued in other
vulnerable building in all part of Nepal.
recommendations
• Internship must start timely so that the interns can join field at the time when
construction of work is started.
• Places for internship and offices should be manage from college, looking self for
intern place and college is not simply possible for all interns.
• The interns must be paid a minimum wage so that at least we can afford for lunch
and travel allowance.
• We were said that we are going to be supervised by supervisor selected from
college but collage can’t manage.
• College must arrange time to supervise the interns by sending faculty member so
that the intern can be confident and work efficiently.
