INTRODUCTION
• Exploring the conceptual barriers of expressive art and
their medium of communication
• A theatrical performing and museum of live art, by
blinding senses
• Breaking down the artificiality of the environment.
• Almost all art forms use all our senses knowingly or
unknowingly in their creative process. "Vision, hearing,
touch, smell and taste are vital for an awareness of the
world around us.
• Medium spaces is a journey of experiencing
contemporary art and exploring how the five senses help
us experience our world in so many different ways and
how we use many other senses on a daily basis without
even being aware of it.

To cater to the needs of technical aspects of t all the
performing arts including dance, music and theatre
design to create a good architectural product.

Objectives :
• To design with such architectural approach that
can develop the interest and boost up the
creativity of the artists.
• To enhance more multi usage spaces including
flexibility of spaces during design.
• To generate an aura of interest inside the built
up with more interaction spaces, formal and
informal, happening environment, green spacec
and sittings.

culture and traditions of a place
• In case of india that has a long history of
culture and diverse traditions as these cultural
values provided india a global identity and
recognition
• It also provides better opputunities for
talented people
• To provide proper guidance and
encouragement
• It creates a nourishing environment.

Scope

• Medium spaces will feature interactive sensory


exhibits highlighted by storyteller-guides and
punctuated with more than a dozen live artists.
• Visitors will walk through to discover how the
five major senses influence how we create art.
With a greater understanding of the many ways
these senses influence our perception, visitors
will walk away with a new awareness of where
their own senses can lead them.
• A live arts and performing gallery and
museum,using barriers as medium of
communication.Using different combination of
the five senses.
• Collection of all traditional and contemporary
dance forms under one roof.
• Designing something more appropriate that can
better serve all forms of performing arts.

My site
• LOCATION: VARKALA,NEAR GVRNT GUEST HOUSE, Kerala.
• AREA – 5 acres.
• The ₹10-crore first phase of the high-end tourism and
cultural project is part of a ₹4,000-crore comprehensive
infrastructure and tourism development plan for Varkala,
which has a prominent place on the world tourism map.
Nearly 50,000 foreign and 1.60 lakh domestic tourists visit
the place annually.
• The centre will have facilities to stay and study the art and
culture of kerala.The ultimate aim is to develop the centre
as “God’s own village.”
• The activities proposed include ‘theme nights,’ laser shows
during the tourist season, and staging of various art forms
such as Theyyam, Padayani, Oppana, and Margamkali.
Construction of Koothambalam, amphitheatre, Kalarithara,
organic garden, convention centre, sculpture museum, and
an Ayurveda-Yoga centre has been proposed .
• An art centre with deemed university status, arts and
cultural exchange programme, and Annual Varkala Fest are
the other goals of the centre.

• There are many types of expressive art forms and
performances in India scattered around and many
unknown.
• Medium spaces concept directs from senses, the five
main human senses and retracing or communication
• Through these senses as a medium.
• A more profound understanding and self exploring
experience, an initiative based on multisensory approach.
• As people walk in they are taken through mediums that
embody sensory perception in some form.
