Steps of procedure:

• Wash hands
• Explain procedure and its purpose to patient
• Take prepared article to bed side
• Pull the screen
• Cover patient with bath blanket
• Place mackintosh over patient’s hip.
• Drape the patient
• Give left lateral position to patient with right knee flexed
• Place kidney tray close to side of buttocks
• Wash hands and wear gloves
• Remove protected cap from prelubricated catheter tip or lubricate
the tip of pre packed enema.
• Take to swabs or separate the folds of anus
• Squeeze the container gently to remove any air before inserting
the nozzle into the anus.
