AVIATION
• Aviation is the course of flying or operating the aircraft by means of pilots, cabin crew and many more.
• Theory is conducted in classrooms whereas the practical is conducted on the campus outside the building
• Institutes include
o classrooms,
o customized training and conference facilities
o audio visual aids
o airfields for flying training
• Courses are:
o pilot training- 3 years, you get student license after 6 months and professional after 1 year.
o air craft maintenance engineering- 4 years
o cabin crew- 3 years
o aeronautical engineering
o physical fitness training
o hospitality and travel
o customer service
o Fire drills and safety
o Airport ground staff
o Aviation management
Cabin crew
• The theoretical training is conducted in a classroom. The methods include classroom instruction and practical
training. The cabin crew member candidates must be able to pass tests with at least 80% correct answer. English is
commonly used as documentation language, as it is the language used within aviation.
• The course consists of theoretical and practical training:
• Theoretical • Practical
• Introduction to Aviation - Qualification and Requirements • Fire Drill incl. Real Fire and Smoke
• Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) and • Swimming test in a swimming pool
European Safety Agency(EASA), regulations • Water survival training in a swimming pool
• Oxygen administration to patients
• Discipline and Responsibilities
• Aircraft Ground School
• Passenger Handling - Crowd Control – Communication
• Meteorology
• Fire and smoke training
• Water survival training
• Aero-Medical aspects and first aid
• Initial Human Factors and Crew resource management (CRM)
• Dangerous Goods Regulations Training (DGR)

Aircraft training
• For pilot training there are 4 types of runway:
o Simple runway
o Parallel runway
o Open-V runway
o Intersecting runways
• Runway dimensions vary from as small as 245 m long and 8 m wide in smaller general aviation airports,
to 5,500 m long and 80 m wide at large international airports built to accommodate the largest jets.
• Aircrafts used for pilot training are:
o CESSNA 152/ IFR 152
o CESSNA 172
o Piper warrior PA 28-161
o Piper arrow PA 28-r-260
o Piper senera PA 34-200
