is sexual
type of
propagation.
Suckers
This method is
asexual type of
propagation.This
refers to stems or
shoots emerging from
portion of plants or
trees.
Runners
These are slim
branches that grow
from bases of stems
running along the
ground as in
strawberries.
Rhizomes
The roots emerge at
the surface from
which new plants
develop from buds.
Cutting
A type of propagation
which refers to a
part of the plant
that is cut and
propagated.
Grafting
A process in which
the stem of one plant
is inserted into
another plant. The
two units are formed
into another plant.
Layering
A process in which an
uncut branch or a
shoot touches the
ground or soil,
develops roots and
becomes an
independent plant.
Marcotting
A process where a ring of
bark on a large branch is
removed, the inner surface
scraped lightly and then
wrapped with moist soil or
moss covered with plastic
sheets or coco husk and
secured tightly on both
ends with twine.
Budding
A form of grafting using a
single bud as the scion.
Inarching
A process where the scion is
united with its rootstock.
This is done by selecting a
growing rootstock and
fitting it with a branch
that will be grafted by
means of a longitudinal cut.
Both cuts are then fitted
together and securely tied
with twine
