    The original cost estimate for the Guddura bridge project in Jammu and Kashmir was Rs. 14.80 cr. However, the cost estimate now needs to be revised for several reasons.     Original sanction: Rs 14.80 cr dated 28.08.2016

    Award of work: Rs 12.64 cr dated 24.03.2018

    Agency: M/s United Jhelum Road & Roof Builders

    Scheduled Completion: Dec’19


    REASONS FOR REVISED COST
    ESTIMATE
    • Land Acquisition: In the original sanction, the
    bridge was sanctioned on the new alignment of
    NH 444 bypassing all towns and villages, however
    during the course of time it was decided to
    upgrade the existing road NH 444 rather than
    constructing road along new alignment which
    would have a massive land acquisition cost.
    Accordingly, the new bridge is now to be
    connected with the existing alignment to keep
    the traffic running and therefore Land Acquisition
    of 20 kanal and 15 marlas amounting to Rs 6.17
    cr is required.

    REASONS FOR REVISED COST
    ESTIMATE
    • Civil Work:
    – The retaining walls, wing walls and return walls have
    increased.
    – Reinforcement in the well cap of the foundation increase
    as it was not properly designed earlier
    – The rate of an item of seismic bearing was taken as 5500
    instead of 55000 in the calculation sheet of revised
    estimate inadvertently, it has also been corrected and
    accounted for in the current abstract of cost.
    – Total increase in civil cost is Rs 4.55 cr.
    – Physical progress of the bridge is 30% (up to foundation)
