UTILIZATION OF LEMON

EXTRACT IN REMOVING ACNE


Background of the Study
Acne is usually perceived as a disease of
teenagers,and most epidemiological studies
have focused on adolescents.
Drugs and treatment to acne is very expensive
and some people cannot afford it.
According to some elders lemon is an
antibacterial compounds that damage bad
bacteria in our body.
Objective/Purpose of the study

To prove the ability of Lemon extract


in removing acne for the people that
has acne specially teens and share
to them the easy, affordable and the
safe way to cure acne.
Statement of the problem

This project aims to answer the following question


a. Are the lemon extract,juice effective in removing acne of
the mices?
b. Which among the situation was the most effective in
removing acne in the mices?
c. What may be the component/s of the lemon that will
remove the acne of the mices?
Statement of the Null Hyphothesis

Lemon extract cannot remove acne.


Significance of the Study

The study will provide an alternative


medicine that is effective,cheap safe and
available.
It will provide medication that will not
create complications in a patient’s body.
Scope & Limitation

 Duration of the study –60 days


 Will be conducted at the researcher’s house particularly
in their garden.
 The study will deal in the extraction of lemon,checking
the skin of the rat every three days using a tool.
 Using reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM).
 Fourteen mices will be use.
Review of Related Literature

Acne is a chronic,inflammatory disease of the


pilosebaceous unit estimated to affect 9.4% of
the global population.
By the age 21 years,80-90% of people are
estimated to have had acne.

Definition of Terms

Acne-is a skin condition that occurs when


your hair follicles become plugged with oil
and dead skin cells.
RCM(reflectance confocal microscopy)-a
noninvasive adjunctive tool in
dermatology.
Material and Methods

• 4 different experimental vehicles to be used:

T1 (control)
T2 (lemon pure extract)
T3 ( lemon juice : 50 mL water + 50 mL blended
lemon)
T4 ( lemon decoction: 50 ml water + 50 mL lemon)

Research Environment
- to be conducted at the researcher’s house.
The place is not hot.
Restraint and Handling of Animals
- Handling techniques will be observed to reduce
the stress to the mice
