 Vocational Guidance Recommendation, 1949


1. For the purpose of this Recommendation the term vocational
guidance means assistance given to an individual in solving problems related to
occupational choice and progress with due regard for the individual's
characteristics and their relation to occupational opportunity.

Sec. 4 Program Components: 4.2 The Weekend Youth Brigade (WYB) – The WYB
are the low-cost but high-impact weekend youth programs of various
government agencies and local government units. The WYB aims to
involve the youth in community building projects during the weekends.

 Career Guidance Day – the DOLE, through its PESOs nationwide, conducts
Career Guidance for the youth aged 18-25 years old to assist the youth in the
career path to be chosen after graduation

OBJECTIVES OF CAREER GUIDANCE

 Bring Career and Employment Services closer to the students, parents, and
jobseekers by providing appropriate information relevant to their career
choices; and

 Address the problems of unemployment and underemployment by preparing


the stakeholders, particularly the students and jobseekers, in their eventual
entry to the world of work
