HOW IS INDIA A VICTIM OF TERRORSIM ?
Let us look at some Reasons that make India a victim of Terrorist Activities:

 We are the neighbours Pakistan with a land border of 3,400 km, who sponsors ‘state-terrorism’’

 The unresolved border with China (5,800 km), a country that has active military and nuclear co-
operation with Pakistan.

 A contiguous and porous border with unequal smaller SAARC nations such as Nepal, Bangladesh,
Myanmar and Sri Lanka, with accompanying problems such as illegal migration, trade and smuggling in
the border belt and the resultant social tensions.

 Media reports have alleged and implicated terrorism in India to be sponsored by Pakistan, particularly
through its Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

 The regions with long term terrorist activities have been Jammu and Kashmir, east-central and south-
central India(Naxalism) and the Seven Sister States of North-East India.

The Government of India has taken various steps to combat
terror financing in the country, which includes:-
 Strengthening the provisions in the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 to combat terror
financing by criminalizing the production or smuggling or circulation of high quality counterfeit
Indian currency.

 A Terror Funding and Fake Currency (TFFC) Cell has been constituted in National Investigation
Agency (NIA) to conduct focused investigation of terror funding and fake currency cases.

 Training programmers are regularly conducted for the State Police personnel on issues relating to
combating terrorist financing.

 Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) network is one of the channels of terror financing in India.
FICN Coordination Group (FCORD) has been formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs to share
intelligence/information among the security agencies of the states/centre to counter the problem of
circulation of fake currency notes.
