USING PICTURE

AS MEDIA
FOR LEARNING PROCESS

WHAT IS MEDIA?

• media is anything that can be used to deliver the message (learning


material) so as to stimulate the attention, interest in mind, and
feelings of learners (students) in learning activities to achieve specific
learning goals.
WHY USING MEDIA FOR LEARNING PROCESS?

• Instructional media has a very important function, namely as a carrier


of information and prevention of barriers learning process, so that
information or messages from the communicator can be up to the
communicant effectively and efficiently.
WHAT IS PICTURE?

• From the definition graphics media above we can conclude that


indeed the media image is an integral part of the graphic media
because basically the media image is a collection of a few dots and
lines that visualize the image of an object or a character who can
clarify us understand objects or figures.
THE GOALS:

• (1) translating the verbal symbol


• (2) to make it concrete and fix the wrong impressions of the oral
illustrations
• (3) provides an illustration of a book
• (4) the motivation to learn and revive the atmosphere of the class
HOW TO DEMONSTRATE PICTURE IN
LEARNING PROCESS?
• 1. LANGUAGE SYSTEM
A. Vocabulary
Exp: The teacher can show and introduce to the student a picture about
vegetables, fruits, animals, part of body, etc
B. Pronunciation
Exp: The teacher can show the picture, for example Crocodile (buaya), and
ask the student to repeat what the teacher say about the picture
C. Grammar
Exp: The teacher give a picture and ask the student to make a short
paragraph about the picture, like descriptive text using simple present tense
D. Function
The teacher can teach the student with direction form, give a
command and instruction
Exp: there is a picture about a boy ask his father for open the door, so
the boy will say “Dady, open the door please”. He say like that because
his father is older than him and it’s an appropriate sentence to give a
command to oldest people.
• 2. LANGUAGE SKILLS
A. Speaking
• For example, the teacher show the picture and ask to the student to
mention this picture and using comparative form.
B. Writing
• For example, we ask students to look at an image posted on the wall,
on a document camera, or overhead. We've used the following image
of dailiy activity which many animals in there.
• And then the teacher ask the student describe in writing what they
seen, and trying to write down about what the activity in the picture.
C. Reading
For example, the teacher show a picture and ask to student to look at
the picutre and read four sentences, only one of which is about the
picture. Then they have to select the correct sentence.

D. Listening
For example, the teacher show the picture to the student by three to
four words spoken by the examiner in person or on tape. The students
need to match the picture in the box with the appropriate word in the
choices.
The advantages of Using Picture:
1. Its concrete. Picture / photo showing more realistic subject matter than more
verbal media.
2. Images can solving the problems of space and time constraints
3. Media images can overcome the limitations of our observations. Or cross-section
of leaf cells that can not be seen with the naked eye can be presented clearly in the
form of images.
4. to clarify an issue, in any field and for some age levels only, so as to prevent or
correct any misunderstanding.
5. Cheap price, easy to get, easy to use, without the need for special equipment.
The Disadvantages of Using Picture:

• 1. The appreciation of the material is less than perfect,


2. Draw or photograph objects that are too complex less effective for
learning activities.
3. Size is very limited for large groups.
