I hope this email finds you well. Last week, I went to visit my cousins in
…………….. . We set off from our house in the early hours of the morning. At 9
o’clock, we arrived at our destination.
My cousins and I went to visit a farm. We saw many animals there and
took photos with them. We even had the chance to feed some of the animals.
It was a great experience! After visiting the farm, we went to have lunch at a
nearby restaurant. The food was fresh and delicious.
In the evening we went to my cousins’ house and had dinner there. Then,
we watched a film on television and played some board games. At 10 o’clock
at night, my family and I made our way back home.
So, what have you been up to recently?
Your friend,
Amy

What Is Active Voice?
I'll start with active voice because it's simpler. In an active sentence, the subject is
doing the action. A straightforward example is the sentence "Steve loves Amy." Steve
is the subject, and he is doing the action: he loves Amy, the object of the sentence.
Another example is the title of the Marvin Gaye song “I Heard It through the
Grapevine.” "I" is the subject, the one who is doing the action. "I" is hearing "it," the
object of the sentence.
In passive voice, the target of the action gets promoted to the subject position.
Instead of saying, "Steve loves Amy," I would say, "Amy is loved by Steve." The subject
of the sentence becomes Amy, but she isn't doing anything. Rather, she is just the
recipient of Steve's love. The focus of the sentence has changed from Steve to Amy.
