What is texture?
Texture in music
-refers to the structure of a
musical composition showing
how many sounds, various
layers or voices are heard at the
What are the three kinds of
texture?
A. Monophonic or
monophony
- “mono” means one sound.
- Single melodic line without
accompaniment.

- Signifies only one voice
- Usually sung in unison
Examples: A capella
(singing solo), humming,
and whistling

- Single melodic sound with
accompaniment.
- Focus on the melody
supported by another

Work Alone: Sing “Row,
Row, Row Your Boat,” by
humming and then by
singing.
Work in Pair: Let you or your
partner sing the first verse of
“Row, Row, Row Your Boat”
then repeat the first verse,
then continue singing until
your partner is done.
