The Level of Knowledge

A. Know
o The knowing of previously learned material or retrieving,
recognizing, and recalling relevant knowledge from long-
term memory. Only focus on recalling.
o Exhibits previously learned material by recalling facts,
common terms, procedures, methods, basic concepts,
principles, and answers.
o It may also include terminology that may include specific
facts such as people, places or things.
o The Remembering Domain represents the lowest level of
learning outcomes in the cognitive domain. Ways to access
this domain is to use multiple-choice tests, ask to recount
facts or statistics, ask for definitions or rules and quote a
procedure.

o The example question :
1. How did dengue fever happen?
2. What is the main agent of PES?
3. Can you list three serotype of Aides that can make
dengue fever?
B. Comprehension
o Involve being aware of the literal message contained in
communication and being able to show a grasp of the
relationships between each of these elements in your
subject.
o To show understanding finding information from the text.
o Demonstrating basic understanding of facts and ideas.

B. Comprehension
o The components of understanding include self-regulation,
interpretation and extrapolation.
o Involves the use of self-regulation behavior that is best
exemplified by restating the problem in the people’s own
words, making the information personal or modifying the
information to something which is more meaningful, such
as changing a step-by-step process into a flow diagram.
o The example question :
1. Will you state or interpretate in your own word about
this phenomenon?
2. What can you say about PES ?
3. How would you classify the type of hazard in this area?

C. Application
o The ability to use learned material in a new or unprompted
use of an abstraction.
o The use of a concept in a new situation or unprompted use
of an abstraction.
o We can say that application is solving problems by applying
acquired knowledge, facts, methods, concepts, principles,
laws, theories, techniques, and rules in a different way.
o The example question :
1. How would you solve malnutrition using what you have
learned?
2. What approach would you use to solve malnutrition?
3. How would you apply what you learned to develop
human resources in this hospital?

D. Analysis
o Use to examine in detail (examining and breaking information
into parts by identifying motives or causes, making inferences,
and finding evidence to support generalisations).
o Analyzing distinguishes between facts and inferences and
determines how the parts relate to one another and to an
overall structure.
o Involve the ability to draw conclusions from data or from
information that provides factual information. It may also
include asking for an explanation or interpretation of meaning
from a given statement.
o The example question :
1. What is the relation between bad behavior and obesity?
2. Why do you think that malnutrition is dangerous?

E. Synthesis
o The ability to make judgments based on criteria or
standards or to combine parts to form a new concept or
idea.
o Involve the ability to judge the value of material which can
include statements, reports etc., for a specific purpose.
o Based on definite criteria or relevance to the stated
purpose.
o Use to change or create into something new.
o The example question :
1. What would happen if our lifestyle still not better?
2. What could be done to minimise malnutrition?
3. Can you propose an alternative program to minimise
malnutrition?

F. Evaluation
o Use to justify, presenting, and defending opinions by
making judgements about information, validity of ideas or
quality of work based on a set of criteria.
o Evaluation is the highest in the cognitive hierarchy
because they contain elements of all the other
categories, plus conscious value judgments based on
clearly defined criteria.
o There is an expectation that the person can correlate
elements in order to form unique or functional whole.
o Involve creativity and may include writing a well-organized
theme or giving a speech.
o It also integrates learning from different areas into a plan
for solving a problem, or developing new classifying etc.

F. Evaluation
o The example question :
1. Would it be better if we consume fruits and vegetables
everyday?
2. What would you recommend to reduce the number of
degenerative diseases?
3. What choice would you have made to reduce the
number of dengue fever?
