What is a VM
• A tightly isolated software container that runs its own operating systems and
applications as if it were a physical computer
• A VM behaves exactly like a physical computer and contains its own virtual
(software-based) CPU, RAM hard disk and network interface card (NIC)
• The Operating System can’t tell the difference between a virtual machine and a
physical machine, nor can applications or other computers on a network
• A virtual machine is composed entirely of software and contains no hardware
components whatsoever
• Therefore, virtual machines offer a number of distinct advantages over physical
hardware
• A vertual machine consists of relited files

Distributed Resource Scheduling
(DRS)
• Dynamically allocate and balance computing capacity
– Allocate capacity preferentially to the highest priority applications
– Maximize overall resource utilization
– Uses VMotion to continuously optimize based on current workload
– Executed completely transparently to end users

What is Vmware ‘s Vclaud
A vclaud is Vmware’s claud solution product
bundle which includes all the necessary
software to deliver the claud computing
23
Vclaud components and role
on cloud computing
24
Vcloud Components role
1- Vmware vcloud director(vcd) and vcloud API
Cloud coordinator .Abstraction Vsphere
resources include :
vcloud director server (cell)
vcloud director database
vclaud API used to manage claud objects
2- Vmware vsphere
underlying foundation of virtulized resourses

The objects of vclaud director
Organization
It defines its own list of users and optionally
contains an allocation of resources known as an
organization vDC into which vApps can be
created.
vApp
A vApp is a unit of deployment within vCloud
Director. A vApp contains one or more VMs and
details of their associated networking
configuration.
30
Catalog
The catalog is a logical construct representing
collections of VMs available to be deployed by
consumers.
31
Organization Virtual Data Center
An organization can have multiple Org vDCs,
which is a mapping between an Org vDC and
one or more provider vDCs. You may choose to
provide a Gold, Silver, and Bronze vDC offering
with the availability and performance
characteristics

Conclusions
One of the main cost-saving, hardware-reducing,
And energy-saving techniques used by cloud
provider is vertualization.
With OS virualization each VM can use a different
Oprating system, and each OS is isolated from the
others.
Use VMs to enabling different services to run in
seperate VMs on the same physical machine.
