FACT
The reason why
some objects fall
faster than others is
not because an
object is heavy or Add a Slide Title
light but because of -4
air resistance.
TRIVIA
FACT
2 different objects
can fall at the same
time when it is on the
moon because on
the surface of the Add a Slide Title
moon, there is no air -4
to provide resistance
to motion

Why different objects fall at
different time on earth?
The air, which the object is
falling through, creates a force
against the direction of motion.
The 'air drag' is dependent on
the shape and size of the
object.
 There are many factors which affect an object's motion like gravity,
friction and change in mass of an object.
 Gravity - Gravitational force is a natural phenomena. Where a mass
on any object exerts a gravitational pull on every other mass of an
objects. The size of the pull completely depends on the masses of the
objects. So, it can affect an object's motion.
 Friction - There are many types of friction that can affect an object's
motion. Friction is a force which is resistant to relative motions of an
object.
 Change in mass - The mass of an object plays and important role in
deciding the motion of the object; greater the mass of an object, the
stronger a force must be applied to it, to accelerate it or to change its
motion. The mass of any object, only affects its motion through the
inertia.
TYPES OF
FRICTION
Fluid friction
friction resisting the
movement through a fluid or
gas
AIR
RESISTANCE
Sliding Friction
friction resisting the two
objects sliding in opposite
directions or across one
another.
PUSHING
Rolling friction
resisting the movement of a
wheel or other round objects
moving along a surfaces.
PUSHING
Static friction
friction between two or more
objects that are not moving.
 1.
Your brother discovered that the chain of his bicycle is
rusty, so it runs slow. How will you help him fix his bicycle?
 2.
You’re on your way to a family outing. Suddenly it rained,
and the road gets slippery, what would you tell to your father?
Why?
 3.
Your mother’s wedding ring got stuck in her finger. She
wanted to remove it but no matter how hard she pulled it; she
cannot get it how would you help her?
 4.
You are going on a hiking. Which kind of shoes are you
going to use? (Rubber shoes? or leather shoes), Why?
 5. The padlock of your house doesn’t open anymore because
it is filled with rust. You applied it with oil. Why did you do it?
 Read the question and ask your partner to answer what factor affects friction.
 1. Your brother discovered that the chain of his bicycle is rusty, so it runs slow. How will you help
him fix his bicycle?
 Put some used oil on the rusty part
 2. You’re on your way to a family outing. Suddenly it rained, and the road gets slippery, what would
you tell to your father? Why?
 I will tell my father to slow down
 3. Your mother’s wedding ring got stuck in her finger. She wanted to remove it but no matter how
hard she pulled it; she cannot get it how would you help her?
 Put soap or baby oil on her finger
 4. You are going on a hiking. Which kind of shoes are you going to use? (Rubber shoes? or leather
shoes), Why?
 Rubber shoes, its soles are able to withstand mud and rocks.
 5. The padlock of your house doesn’t open anymore because it is filled with rust. You applied it with
oil. Why did you do it?
 So, the rust becomes slippery
