SRIDARA
 -Birth date: 18th Century A.D.
 -Birth Place: Bhurishresti Village in South
Radha, India
 -Father: BALADEV ACHARYA (Sanskrit Pundit)
 -Mother: ACCHOKA ACHARYA
 -Nationality: Indian
 He is: Indian Mathematician, Sanskrit
Pundit, and Philosopher
Popular and useful contribution in
Mathematics

He is one of the first

to give a rule for
quadratic equations
derivation.
*ARYABATTA II

-Birth date: 476 A.D.

He is: Indian
Mathematician
Popular and useful
contribution in
Mathematics
 He is credited with finding with zero and to

this day the number system owes its

recognition to him and also the place value
system.
• He also solve the value of Pi.
• He gave us the insight that the moon has
no light of its own and that eclipses were
caused because of the shadow of the earth
and not because of the planet Rahu as was
believed.
• He gave us the positions of the planets and
also the distance between them and in fact
even measured their orbits correctly.
• He also was able to give correct predictions
regarding planetary positions and to this day
the Hindu Calendar (Panchang) is set with
calculations he made a years ago.
• He accurately measured the radius of the
earth and the distance of the orbit of the
planets from the earth.
• He wrote two books: Aryabhatia
and Aryabhatta Siddanta.
• He is also credited with talking
about trigonometry.
RAMANUJAN
Birth date: 1887
Birth Place: Erode, Tamil Nadu,
India
He is: Indian Mathematician and
Astronomer
Popular and useful
contribution in Mathematics
• He compiled 3,900 results were
mostly identities and equations before
he lost his life at the age of 32.
• His infinite series 4Pi was one of his
more celebrated findings.
• His death anniversary in December 22
is celebrated as National Mathematical
day every year.
• RAMANUJA worked on divergent series,
he sent hundred and twenty theorems on
implied divisibility properties of the
partition function.
• He gave a meaning to all ARYAN second
Integrals for all values of N.
• He also worked on summing Geometric
and Arithmetic Series.
MADHAVA
Birth date: 1350
Birth Place: India
He is: Greatest Mathematician Astronomer of
Medieval India and a founder of Kerala
School of Astronomy and Mathematics in the
late 14th Century.
Popular and useful contribution
in Mathematics
Although almost all of Madhava’s
original work is lost, he is referred to
in the work of later Kerala
Mathematicians as the source for
several infinite series expansions
(including the sine, cosine, tangent
and arctangent functions and the
value of Pi).
There, it represent the first steps from the
traditional processes of algebra to
considerations of the infinite, with its
implications for the future development of
Calculus and Mathematical Analysis. He also
developed infinite series approximation.
BHASKARA II
Birth date: 12TH CENTURY
He is: One of the most
accomplished of all India’s great
mathematicians
Popular and useful
contribution in
Mathematics
*He made important contributions to many
different areas of mathematics from solutions
of quadratic, cubic and quartic
equations(including negative and irrational
solutions).
*Some of his findings predated similar
discoveries in Europe by several centuries,
and he made important contributions in terms
of systemization of current knowledge and
improved methods for known solutions.
