COUPLET

PREPARED BY:
ALDREN B.
RAMIENTOS
WHAT IS COUPLET?

Couplet comes from the French word

referring to two pieces of iron
soldered or hinged together. It is two
successive lines of poetry that
typically rhyme and have the same
meter. The second line in the couplet
functions to “answer” or complete
the thought expressed by the couplet
as a whole.
EXAMPLE OF A COUPLET

• Twinkle, twinkle, little star,

How I wonder what you are.

• I do not like green eggs and ham,

I do not like them, Sam I am.
HOW TO WRITE A COUPLET?
1.Think of your main idea or point in
the couplet.
2 Think of the keywords surrounding
your topic, ending the first line
with one of them.
3.Brainstorm several words that rhyme
with the end of your first line.
4.
Place punctuation at the end of the line
for complete thoughts, or leave it as an
"open
. couplet.
5.
Make sure that both lines have roughly
the same amount of syllables.
6.
Follow your imagination and intuition to
keep crafting couplets.
