an archipelagic nation
containing over
18,000 islands
Indonesia's former
tallest peak, Mount
Tambora (8,930 ft,
2,722 m), is an active
stratovolcano whose
1815 eruption was the
largest ever in
recorded history -
killing nearly 71,000
people.
Located along the Ring of Fire, Indonesia has
about 400 volcanoes within its borders, with at
least 90 still active in some way.
Most notable is the 9.2 earthquake that
struck in the Indian Ocean which triggered
the Tsunami of December, 2004 and
devastated many of the islands within
Indonesia's archipelago.
Significant rivers of Indonesia include the Barito, Digul, Hari,
Kampar, Kapuas, Kayan and Musi; as well, there are also
scattered inland lakes which are relatively small in size

Kuda Lumping

Traditional dance Kuda Lumping is a unique dance of


many regions in Indonesia. The dance has many names
such as in Banyumas Jaran ebleg, in Boyolali Regency is
Jlantur, in Yogyakarta is Jathilan and in Surabaya is famous
as Jaran dor. It represents the intersection between the
present world and the supernatural world, between man and
spirit, a place for people to send in their wishes.

The traditional Balinese dance is a traditional dance, an important part of


the religion and art culture of the islanders.
There are 3 types of traditional dances in the bali:
1. Legong is the most popular traditional dance in Bali.
2. Kecak dance is a dance often encountered on the island.
3. The traditional dance in Bali is called Barong.

The Indonesian cuisine
The thick sweet soy sauce called kecap manis, which
is used in countless dishes.
Nasi goreng is considered the national dish of
Indonesia and can be found everywhere from street
hawker carts to dinner parties or restaurants.
