LITERAL LEVEL – literal content of the information


RELATIONSHIP LEVEL (META-COMMUNICATION) – any verbal or non-verbal cues about
the literal content of the message sent
1. Interpersonal communication is inescapable;
2. Interpersonal communication is irreversible;
3. Interpersonal communication is complicated;
4. Interpersonal communication is contextual.
a. Psychological context – your needs, desires, values, personality, etc.;
b. Relational context – your reactions to the other person;
c. Situational context – psycho-social WHERE you are communicating;
d. Environmental context – physical WHERE you are communicating
(noise level, temp.,season)

1. Seek to ELICIT THE BEST in communications and interactions with other group
members;
2. Listen when others speak;
3. Speak non-judgmentally;
4. Speak from your own experience and perspective, expressing your own
thoughts, needs, and feelings;
5. Seek to understand others;
6. Avoid speaking for others;
7. Manage your own personal boundaries;
8. Respect the personal boundaries of others;
9. Avoid interrupting and side conversations;
10. Make sure that everyone has time to speak, that all members have relatively
EQUAL AIR TIME if they want.

 It maps the HOWS to conveying a message.
 It is designed to help people to communicate effectively and accomplish individual
or organizational objectives.
 It a choice of the most useful objectives of communication, and recognition of a
particular brand and its strategies in terms of attitude.
 A strategy needs to be interconnected with the motivation of an individual or
foundation of an organization and has to be taken into account seriously.
