HEALTH
not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

A resource of everyday life, not the objective of living.


Health is a positive concept emphasizing social and
personal resources, as well as physical capacities.

A state of well-being or balance, often physical but sometimes


also mental and social; the overall level of function of an
organism from the cellular (micro) level to the social (macro)
level.

The state of the organism when it functions


optimally without evidence of disease.
FITNESS The ability to carry out daily tasks with vigor and alertness,
without undue fatigue, and with ample energy to enjoy
leisure-time pursuits and respond to emergencies.

The condition of being physically strong and healthy, and


capacity to finish a task or activity of the day without
stress or fatigue.

A set of attributes that people have or achieve that


relates to the ability to perform physical activity

A physical state of wellbeing that allows people to perform daily


tasks or activities with vigor, reduce the risk of health problems
related to lack of exercise and establishes a fitness base for
participation in a variety of physical activities.

▪ Weight, BMI, and reflex tests.

▪DISEASE RISK FACTOR


▪ Blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose tests.

▪FITNESS ASSESSMENTS
▪ Body fat percentage, flexibility, muscular strength and
endurance tests.

TYPES OF PHYSICAL FITNESS
▪AEROBIC FITNESS (with oxygen)
▪ Conditions heart and lungs. The purpose is to increase the
amount of oxygen that is delivered to your muscles, which
allows them to work longer.
▪MUSCULAR STRENGTHENING
▪ Stronger muscles can mean either more powerful muscles that
can do bigger jobs (such as lifting heavier weights) or muscles
that will work longer before becoming exhausted (endurance).
▪FLEXIBILITY
▪ Flexibility comes from stretching allows to counteract the
repeated shortening of muscles that happens through
exercising.

HEALTH RELATED PHYSICAL FITNESS
• Body Composition
• Percentage of FAT, BONE, MUSCLE, and VITAL PARTS.
• M 12-16% vs F 15-20%

• Cardiovascular Fitness
• Ability of the circulatory and respiratory system to supply oxygen
during sustained physical activity.

• Flexibility
• Range of motion available to the joint without discomfort or pain.
• No general measurement

• Muscular Strength
• Ability of the muscle to exert force.
• Tested through the amount of resistance that can be over come at
one time.

• Muscular Endurance/Fitness
• Ability to continue to perform without fatigue.
• Repetitions that can be endured by a specific muscle group.

SKILL RELATED FITNESS
• Agility
• Ability to rapidly change position of the entire body with speed
and accuracy.

• Balance
• Maintenance of the equilibrium with stationary or moving.

• Coordination
• Ability to use the senses and muscles together for accurate body
movements

• Speed
• Ability to perform a movement within a short period of time.

• Power
• Rate at which one can perform work, and a combination of
strength and speed.

• Reaction Time
• Refers to the time elapsed between stimulation and beginning of
the reaction.
