• The need for the protection of the environment, has become predominant
problems and debated extensively among academic, environmental
activists and politican.
• People across the globe have become conscious of the rapidly growing
problems of climate change.
• Natural resources management, fast technological development, and
limitations on resources including water, food and energy.
• Ecology has become one of the most important topics in the Western
world’s debates, especially in the domain of social and natural sciences
Background (2)
• The word ecology, which is widely used, at the same time, it is ambiguous, vague, and
undefined.(Milan Galović, 2014)
• Ecology in its constant appearance on the product labels is heavily related to economic
propaganda.
• As a result ecology has not been generally accepted, but it is frequently used as a

• Milan Galović suggests that, while studying the environmental issues, we should take a

dimensions.
• Certain scientific disciplines (like human ethics, bioethics, and biopolitics), in fact, have a
tendency to point out the ecological component present in them in order to draw the
ecologists’ attention to the topic.
• In the context in which both ethics and science meet within the infinite branching of
scientific disciplines in the 20th century, one of them is Ecocriticism.
Backgrounds (3)

theory which associates literature to ecology;
• Ecocriticism primarily focuses on the texts dealing with nature or
humans in the environmental context;
• Ecocriticism is the study of the relationship between literature and
