Tradition or culture
Saudis celebrate a monthly holy event called ramadan which saudis have to
fast from 6:00AM till 6:00PM. They also have Eid EL Adha which is the
celebration at the culmination of the pilgrimage (hajj) which is an
obligation—one of the five pillars of Islam and Eid EL Fitr which is marked
at the end of ramadan. Families invite others to a huge feast where they
have every kind of sweets and food. As for the Clothing in Saudi Arabia is
dictated by the religion and customs of the country and is strictly enforced.
Women are required to adorn the abaya, a long (usually black) cloak that
covers their entire body, revealing only the hands. The Saudi women are
also required to wear a veil called the niqāb that covers their head and
face. Foreign women in Saudi also must wear the abaya but they can keep
their hair and face exposed. Meanwhile for men they have to wear a white
cloak called dishdasha. Last but not least is their traditional dance and
food. Their dance is called “Al Ardha”, the country’s national dance. This
sword dance is based on ancient Bedouin traditions: drummers beat out a
rhythm and a poet chants verses while sword-carrying men dance shoulder
to shoulder and their traditional foods are balila, kabsa, dates, kabab, and
many more.
