The Visionary

• At a time when computers were exclusive to governments and large organizations Steve Jobs and the
original cadre of Apple developers, the goal was to design a computer that both supported and fostered
individual work.
• Moreover, they reasoned, potential customers would have to fall in love with computers if they were to
master the machine’s apparent complexity
• Innovation in the space of digital ecosystems – Macintosh, iPod, iPad, iPhone, iWatch

The Entrepreneur
• In April 1985, the Board axed Jobs’ operational role at Apple, and he left shortly afterwards, to found NeXt
and then to co-found the animation production company Pixar Studios
• Next was later taken up by apple and formed a key value addition to its innovative IT solutions
• Another example of his exemplary quality was when
the world was praising dell for its online presence which
involved direct sales and built to order manufacturing
everyone thought that Apple would follow suit
• Instead Steve Jobs went with opening brick and mortar
stores a move which as highly criticized at that time
due to huge capital cost involvement. However the bet
The Risk-taker was on foot traffic and attracting non apple consumers
.
• The bet played off the long run as people still preferred
human contact and exceptional sales service offered by
apple which led to apple generating the highest profit
per foot compared to any other retail store in the world
