Problems
Due to the decline in the TLC sector there is a price war among operators. Which led to price cut up to 30%
and constant changes in the fares.
Cut on recharge costs.
The recession may cause reduction and elimination of the roaming rates.
Due to the OTT operators the revenues and margins of the traditional TLC started eroding.
The company was undergoing financial difficulties and they aimed to reduce costs through process re-
engineering and personnel downsizing of 10%.
The organization perceived by the employee is slow in the internal process, stiff and fragmented across
functions not innovative nor international.
The downsizing of employees led to higher workload and changes in operational activities. Employees also
complained about lower flexibility and scarce attention to individual needs and also shrunk incentives.
Problems that emerged with 2012 Climate
analysis
In March 2013, Vodafone creates a redundancy scheme for 700 employees out of 7600.
Redundant workers leave the company with a mix of voluntary and intensified layoffs, work sharing practices,
outplacements to supplies, part time jobs and reallocation to lower grade positions.
The company needs to improve work organization and flexibility, to introduce dynamic and innovative
leadership styles, to manage knowledge in a faster and a leaner way and applying technologies in a more
efficient way.
