NATURE AND CHARACTERISTICS OF
EDUCATIONAL TEHNOLOGY

education.
• It lays stress on development of methods and
techniques for effective teaching.
• It stresses the organization of learning situations
for effective realization of the goals of education.
• It emphasize the designing and measuring
instruments for testing learning outcomes.
• Involves input and output process aspects of
education
Contd…
• It is not confined to the use of electronic media in
education , it includes system approach also.
• It is important media of communication.
• It is very comprehensive term and is not to be
viewed in terms of its parts or processes . It
includes instructional , teaching technology ,
programmed learning and system analysis.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF
EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
• The need to reach more students.
• To reach them with an approved range of learning
materials.
• To offer greater opportunities for independent
study.
• To permit at least a limited student response.
TECHNOLOGICAL IMPACT ON
EDUCATION
Technology has revolutionized the field of education. The
importance of technology in schools cannot be ignored .
Infact , with the onset of computers in education, it is more
easier for teacher to impart knowledge and for students to
acquire it.
DYSON TECHNOLOGY IMPACT ON
EDUCATION
• Easy assess to information.
• Greater interest in learning.
• Increased retention of information.
• Better presentation of information.
• Teaching made interactive.
• Knowledge sharing made easy.
TECHNOLOGY IS A TEACHING AID
• Audio visual aids like power point presentation and
animation software can be used to present information in
an interactive way.
• Addressing system like microphones and speakers make
it possible for teacher to reach a large number of students
Simultaneously.
Interactive media has proven to be useful in arousing
student attention and concentration level.
TECHNOLOGY HAS MADE STUDENT LIFE
EASY
• Student can use much more than just pen and paper to
express themselves or present what they have learned.
• With technological aids they cam make easy – to-
remember notes and a creative presentation of the
information.
• It wont be wrong to say that technology has made a
student to carry a PDA then carrying big fat books to
school.
ITS EASIER TO STORE INFORMATION
• Computer enable better and more robust storage of
information.
• Digital libraries requires no physical space and students
and teacher sitting in different parts of the world can
assess the same library at the same time.
• Compact memory devices have replaced notebooks and
keyboards and computer mouse are the new writing
device .
INFORMATION IS EASILY ACCESSIBLE
• The internet is a huge information base it can be used as
an effective tool for acquiring knowledge.
• There are several websites and web directories that offer
information on literally everything in the world
TECHNOLOGY HAS ELIMINATED SPACE
AND TIME CONSTRAINTS
• Online learning and distance learning has given a
new dimension to education and higher learning
even if students are geographically far away from
each other .
• Many educational institutions offer online courses
, which eliminates space and time constraints in
acquiring education.
NEGATIVE IMPACT
• Lack of physical interactivity.
• Declining in writing skills.
• Computer based education cannot be provided in
all places.
• Childrens using computers gets physically
affected
CONCLUSION
• Technology has mainly positive effects on
learning in the recent 40 years .
• It enhance the way of learning and makes the
student to gain knowledge easily.
• Thus the impact on technology makes the
stepping stone to next level of learning in future
