THE JUDGMENT OF
SOLOMON
1 KING 3:16-28)
One day, two women fighting
over a baby came to ask King
Solomon’s advice. They were
pulling each other’s hair and
screaming:

“The baby is mine!”


“No! You lie! The baby is
mine!”
Because he was a just and wise
king,Solomon reflected and said,
“Isee only one solution. Cut the
baby in half!”
One of the woman agreed. The
other strongly refused. “No!” She
said. “How horrible! Give him to
her! The most important thing is he
lives!”
From their answers, King Solomon
recognized who was the true mother
of the baby. He said to her, “Take
good care of your baby. I know you
love him already.”

Context Clues

Types of Context Clues
• -The meaning is usually right after
the unfamiliar word and often
separated from the rest of the
sentence with commas, dashes, or
parenthesis; sometimes or, that is or
in other words is used.

around the trees of the

An opposite meaning context clue
contrasts the meaning of an unfamiliar
