Festivals
The Pahiyas Festival is one of the
most popular fiestas in the
Philippines, held in honor of San
Isidro Labrador, Catholic Patron
Saint of Farmers. It is celebrated
annually every May 15th
(regardless of whether it falls on a
weekday or a weekend).
The festival is a thanksgiving feast
for a beautiful harvest.
The Moriones Festival is a folk-
religious event held annually during
Holy Week on the island of
Marinduque, considered the
geographical heart of the
Philippines. Moriones Festival
Costumes The word “Morion” refers
to the visor of the helmet that is
associated with the armor of Roman
soliders.
The Obando Fertility Rites
are a dance ritual, initially
an Anitist ritual, and later
also became a Catholic
festival celebrated every
May in Obando, Bulacan,
Philippines.
The Ati-Atihan Festival is a feast
held annually in January in
honor of the Santo Niño (Infant
Jesus), Held on the third
Sunday, in the town of Kalibo
Philippines in the island of
Panay originally came from
Batan, Aklan, then adopted later
by some neighboring towns.
SINULOG is a dance ritual in honor
of the miraculous image of the
Santo Nino. The dance moves to the
sound of the drums and this
resembles the current (Sulog) of
what was then known as Cebu's
Pahina River. Thus, in Cebuano,
they say it's Sinulog. More than just
the meaning of the word is the
significance of the dance.
The Dinagyang Festival is a
religious and cultural festival
in Iloilo City, Philippines held
on the 4th Sunday of
January, or right after the
Sinulog in Cebu and the Ati-
Atihan Festival in Kalibo,
Aklan.
Flores de Mayo is a festival
held in the Philippines in the
month of May. It is one of the
May devotions to the Blessed
Virgin Mary and lasts for the
entire month. The Santacruzan
is the ritual pageant held on the
last day of the Flores de Mayo.

Festivals
Panagbenga Festival is a month-
long annual flower occasion
occurring in Baguio City. The term
is of Kankanaey origin, meaning
"season of blooming". The festival,
held in February, was created as a
tribute to the city's flowers and as a
way to rise up from the devastation
of the 1990 Luzon earthquake.
The MassKara Festival is an
annual festival with highlights held
every fourth Sunday of October in
Bacolod, Philippines. The most
recent festival was held October 8-
28, 2018. The festival sites include
the Bacolod Public Plaza, the
Lacson Tourism Strip and the
Bacolod Government Center.
The Kadayawan Festival is
an annual festival in the city
of Davao in the Philippines.
Its name derives from the
friendly greeting "Madayaw",
from the Dabawenyo word
meaning good, valuable,
superior or beautiful.
Kaamulan Festival is an ethnic
cultural festival held annually
in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon
in the Philippines from the
second half of February to
March 10, the anniversary date
of the foundation of Bukidnon
as a province in 1917
