Be an Advocate!

SAVE! (Spread
Awareness and Value
the Ecosystem)
The Conservation and Convention by Environmental
Conservationist Organization
INTRODUCTION

Solid waste management issue is the

biggest challenge to the authorities of both small and
large cities’ in developing countries. This is mainly
due to the increasing generation of such solid waste
and the burden posed on the municipal budget. In
addition to the high costs, the solid waste
management is associated lack of understanding
over different factors that affect the entire handling
system (Abdel, H. Mansour, S., 2018).
PROJECT BACKGROUND
R.A. 9003 is an act that provides for an
ecological solid waste management program,
creating the necessary institutional mechanisms
and incentives, declaring certain acts prohibited
and providing penalties, appropriating funds
therefore, and other purposes. Under R.A. 9003,
DepEd was mandated to integrate environmental
concerns in the school curricula, with emphasis on
the theory and practice of resource conservation,
recovery, segregation at source and recycling.
Then the National Eco savers Program or NEP
was launched by the government in 2012 that is
also part of the R.A. 9003.
PROJECT BACKGROUND
NEP is a recycling campaign to reduce the
garbage from schools and households
through the establishment of an ecological
waste recovery system in every school, which
would allow public elementary and high
school students to earn money or get free
school items when they bring in their
recyclables (Orosa, 2014). However, the
NEP was not implemented throughout the
Philippine due to the lack of fund.
Project Objectives

The project ‘Be an Advocate!

SAVE!’ secures, observes, and protects
the school for managing and teaching the
students the value of proper segregation.
Environmental Conservationist
Organization helps to facilitate the waste
management inside the school and
provides the duty and responsibilities to
make the school more convenient and
safe for all. The proponent seeks to:
Project Objectives

• Instill discipline to the students inside and

outside the school campus.
• Promote to every student the proper way of
segregating the waste materials from bio-
degradable materials.
• Practice the students for the cleanliness and
beautification of the environment and
surroundings.
• Give and help the students for the lack of
necessity inside the classroom.
• Intensify the security and sanitation among
the students.
PROJECT METHODOLOGY
Before implementing the project, the
ECO will first conduct an orientation for the
parents then implement the merit and demerit
system which is a school-wide discipline plan that
focused on behaviour of the students and is not
connected to academics. Each classroom is given
twenty points as their balance for their classroom
fund. The officials will monitor the classroom two
times a week if their wastes are properly segregated.
The checking will be held during Wednesday and
Friday of the week.
PROJECT METHODOLOGY
Furthermore, if their class has properly segregated
their waste, their balance will be added by another
five points and a constant process until they earn a
sufficient amount of points that can be exchanged
for the cleaning materials or even cash for their
class. However, if the class have disregarded the
rules and warnings their points will be deducted by
five points. If they reach the amount of zero point,
the whole class will help the caretakers to clean the
school’s premises or will be having a community
service until the next monitoring of officers.
