of natural things and the knowledge that we obtain about them. WHO INVENTED SCIENCE? • Roger Bacon, also known by the scholastic accolade Doctor Mirabilis, was an English philosopher and Franciscan friar who placed considerable emphasis on the study of nature through empiricism. WHO IS THE FATHER OF SCIENCE? • Galileo Galilei is considered to be the father of modern science. Stephen Hawking and other scientists believe that Galileo contributed more to modern science than any other figure in history. He is also considered to be the father of modern physics, astronomy and observational science. WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF SCIENCE?
• Science is about a whole lot more than that
and to sum it up we believe that science is a way of helping the brain grow in finding new knowledge and helps us defeat our curiosity of how the world develops and works today. Science is important because it has helped form the world that we live in today. TECHNOLOGY WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY?
• The definition of technology is science or
knowledge put into practical use to solve problems or invent useful tools. WHO INVENTED TECHNOLOGY? DOUGLAS ENGLEBART Douglas Englebart has always been ahead of his time, having ideas that seemed far-fetched at the time but later were taken for granted. He saw technology, especially computers, as the answers to the problem of dealing with the ever more complex modern world and has dedicated his life to the pursuit of developing technology to augment human intellect. ENGLEBART'S FIRST MOUSE
• The first (wooden!)
computer mouse prototype created by Douglas Engelbart and Bill English IMPORTANCE OF TECHNOLOGY
• Technology helps to speed up the learning
process for students like myself because it creates a more efficient learning environment in many ways. But technology is also an important part of my life for reasons other than just education. Technology is also important to me for enjoyment purposes. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY • The words science and technology can and often are used interchangeably. But the goal of science is the pursuit of knowledge for its own sake while the goal of technology is to create products that solve problems and improve human life. SIMILARITIES BETWEEN SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
Both involve the study of the world around us
Both require study to understand
Both are used to understand the world and to help
