-Made by weaving thin threads of gold and
worn by a powerful chieftain

3. Funerary Gold Mask
-The burial practice of covering the eyes, nose
and mouth of the dead with sheets of gold is a
custom of the southern Chinese practiced by a
limited group of Filipinos. It is believed that when
the face of the dead is covered with a gold
mask, evil spirits cannot enter the body.

BUKIDNON
• Bukidnon are indigenous groups of
people in Mindanao that belongs
to Lumads.
• Kaamulan Festival – famous ethnic
festival derived from the word
“amul” literally means “to gather”.
• They are known for their costumes
composed of alternate horizontal
stripes of red, white, black with
jewelries accented with yellow and
gold.
.They are also know for wooden
beads necklace.

• Kadayawan Festival – the most popular
and celebrated event in the region known
as the King of the Festivals.
• Dagmay Fabric – a craft made from
weave abaca fibers

OKKIR or OKKIL
It refers to geometric and flowing
designs based on leaf and vine
patterns.
The pattern is the distinguishing marks
of the Maranao and Muslim-
influenced artworks in Southern
Philippines.

BASILAN
• Yakans are the best weavers in the Peninsula.
• There are known with their motifs:
Pussuk Labbung – a saw-tooth design used
in making cloth baskets and native sword
called Kris.
Bunga sama – a symmetrical design made
of rectangular-shaped figures
Kabban buddi – set of triangles, square and
geometric shapes used for pillows, mats and
hats.

• Maguindanaon are easily


distinguished through their
color scheme: red, yellow,
green and black. It signifies
royalty among them and
strictly observed in all their
buntings, curtain and
decorations.

• Tinalak Weaving – finest
artistic expressions made
from finest abaca fibers
from T’boli of South
Cotabato. It is considered
to be the expression of
warm welcome or
acceptance and honor to
guest aside from being a
decorative tapestry.
• It cloth pattern are
distinguished from their
dark shades that are
accented with red, white
and sometimes yellow and
green.
