This document provides information about testimonio as a literary genre. It begins by defining testimonio as an account of the author's experiences of marginality and oppression, with the author acting as a witness. Unlike autobiography, which focuses on personal accomplishments, testimonio focuses on lived experiences of abuse and oppression. It is meant to draw public attention to such experiences rather than adhere to modern literary standards. The document discusses forms testimonio can take and how it originates from traditionally marginalized groups.

POTIC SHETSI TASTETENM GENZOARI ESIDA VDELOPE ESIDA TESTIMONIO An autobiography often deals with the personal accomplishments and achievements.
What if a narrative is about the
narrator’s lived experiences of abuse and oppression, would it still qualify as an autobiography? Why or why not? What is testimonio? What is its functions? Testimonio or testimonial narrative is a relatively new literary genre, if one may call it. It is said to have originated in Latin America. Autobiography primarily evolves around personal development or accomplishment of its authors.
Testimonio is an account of the author’s
experiences of marginality and oppression.
In a sense the narrator, is a witness to such
cases of abuse, hence the term. The author’s subject position is, therefore, an important elements of the testimonio. Such narrative should come from a traditionally marginalized group in society, such as workers and peasants or victims of human rights violations.
Testimonio may also take different forms (
letters, diary entries, incident reports, poetry, among others) and use different media ( print, radio, TV, others Testimonio does not measure up to the standards of “ academic” communication and canonical.
This is expected because testimonial
writings are more concerned with their purpose- that is, to call public attention to lived experiences of marginality- than with modernist literary aesthetic. In your opinion, what is the general condition of workers in the Philippines? Is their condition improving? Why or why not? Workers are said to be the lifeblood of any society. Considering the pivotal role that workers play in societies, there should be mechanisms to ensure that their rights are upheld. The Labor Code is the primary legal document concerning the rights and welfare of Filipino workers. It has undergone several revisions to keep employees rights in sync with the changing times. Nonetheless, there are still cases of unfair labor practice, in which the rule of profit seems to take precedence over worker’s rights. The labor Code does not have within the scope the welfare of the swelling ranks of Filipino workers overseas. In any case, Filipino workers are generally vigilant about their well-being, using the means at their disposal to report cases of work-related abuse. They have turned, for instance, to nongovernment organizations ( NGOs) and other groups that are sympathetic to the workers’ cause. What are the steps in writing autobiography?
