people and society and what does it do socially?

ARCHITECTURAL ANTHROPOLOGY
 Architectural anthropology considers the relationship between people, culture and
the built environment.
 Study of anthropology guides an architect to relate the architectural aspects of a
building to the people who will inhabit the building.
 An architect uses anthropology to understand how architecture influences peoples,
how it makes people, how it shapes them and how it sustains social relations
between people.
 Anthropology bridges the architectural aspects of building such as techniques of
construction, types of buildings, environmental conditions, resources, technology
and aspects of organization of space to the social and cultural facts of those who
will be using the building.
 An architect has to observe the elements of the culture of a people such as their
religion and its influence to their lives and their social norms.
 These cultural elements drive the people’s way of life and ultimately influence
their choices in relation to the buildings which they inhabit.

 Explaining different structures and the factors for their
differentiation on structural terms and use.
 Factors explaining the assembly in terms of structural stability,
material use and form for preferences according to the living
conditions. (may include the climatic variations)
 Aspects of security in both conditions.
