Art in Today’s Society

Soul-Making
o In the language that refers to all
activities concerning individual
expression through the art, is the
deeper process known as “soul-
making”
oThe soul here refers to the
individual’s psyche
oIndividuals (especially artists)
have to work through disintegration
Art Fusion
o A product of industry and commercialism
oThe artist provides the vision and the
creativity, while the company provides the
production, promotion and marketing of
these fusions.
oEarly 1930’s , fine artists and fashion
designers were the first to engage in art
fusion—the first being Salvatore Dali and
Elsa Schiaparelli in 1933
o Term used in advertising and marketing
oRefers to the process of adapting a message from
one language to another while maintaining its intent,
style, tone and context.
oExamples would be changing the music to text, text
to dance, dance to visual art, text to theatre and text
to cinema

Having mixed origin or composition
that adds variety or complex o a
system.
In art forms, hybrid could mean blurring of
traditional distinct boundaries between
artistic media such a s painting, sculpture,
film, performance, architecture, and dance

-to extemporize, play, recite, and sing in spur of the

specific/scripted preparation e.g.

Conceptual art, Pop art, and Minimalism
oPhotorealism complicates realism by combining
that which is real with that which is not.
oUniting the elements of light and color
oEmphasizes the value of traditional techniques of
academic art again

oInstallation artwork often occupy an entire room or
gallery space
oInstallation art is different from sculpture and
other traditional art forms in the sense that its focus
is on its effect on the viewer
