The simple past statements and questions

We use the simple past for completed actions in the past


Spelling rules. Regular verbs

 When the verb ends in a short vowel and a consonant, we double the final consonant.

stop → stopped

When the verb ends in a consonant and a "y", the "y" is changed to an "i".

study → studied
Try → tried
