Knowledge Enhancement

of Nursing Mothers
Summary of the health education program
Mothers should receive clear and impartial information as to what
choices she has on how they feed and care for their babies. Health—
care staff should support any woman in her chosen method of infant
feeding.

It aims to fashion a milieu where all women choose to breastfeed their

babies, secure that they will be given support and information to allow
them to continue breastfeeding exclusively for six months and to
promote public awareness on the health benefits of breastfeeding and
thus establish a supportive community.

Recommendations:
A. Health care providers should promote and support breastfeeding.
1. Educate properly working mothers on how to express and
store breastmilk.
2. Information being given to mothers should be scientific.
3. Strengthen dissemination/campaign materials like posters and
visual aids on the importance of exclusively breastfeeding.
4. Patiently motivate mothers to breastfeed emphasizing its
positive effects to both the mothers and babies
5. Request funds or additional resources to maximize mothers.
