05 with an average lead of 683 km.
• Increment of about 40 mtons over previous year
• Highest ever in the annals of IR
• Target for GDP growth – 8% during tenth five
year plan

• Rake Management System (RMS)
addresses the operating portion.
captures information relating to goods train movements
in terms of rakes on IR-233 locations
Deployment of Phase II- Wagon wise train consist,
Rake consist and stock inventory is in progress

• Terminal Management System (TMS)


pertains to the commercial portion .
TMS installed at more than 300 TMS locations

Rake Management System (RMS)
RMS captures the following events in real time
•Customer indents
•Wagon supply - date and time
•Departure after loading
•Running particulars - arrival/departure at stations
enroute with attachments/detachments if any
•Arrival at destination
•Handling and delivery at destination

RMS provides information on:
• Train Operation
• Interchange & Forecast
• Rake based consignment tracking
• Train pipeline
• Wagon type wise stock holding
• Consist reporting on summary basis
• Terminal handling performance
• Loco holding, outage and power on line.

FOIS Architecture
• Intelligent terminals at field locations.
• Data capture from activity centres like control offices,
yards, loco sheds, C&W depots.,goods sheds etc.
• Terminals connected to application servers for
transaction processing by reliable communication
links through WAN.
• Railway owned digital microwave communication
facilities, OFC complemented by VSAT s hired from
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd establish network

payment of freight for coal movement
to Badarpur Thermal Power Station
from collieries in EC Railway
– Originating points (16) eg Katras Garh /
Khalari intimate electronically freight
charges due to State Bank of India before
printing RR
– Paid RR generated at originating point
after receipt of successful transaction
message from the Bank
– Synchronous Transaction – reply within
150 sec

• Facilitate acceptance of customer’s orders, billing
and cash accountal from identified nodal customer
centres which, may not necessarily be the handling
terminals

• These facilities could even get extended to


customer’s premises and along with introduction of
e-commerce benefit both by reducing the burden of
logistics management
