URBANISATION

The increase in the number of people living in


towns and cities. It occurs mainly because people
move from rural areas to urban areas and it
results in growth in the size of the urban
population and the extent of urban areas.
IMPACTS OF URBANISATION
Urbanisation is leading to :

• Stressed infrastructure
• Sustainability challenges
• Increased crimes
• Pressure on education system
• Pollution

• BY 2030, 60% of the population will be living in cities. While cities cover only 3% of the world’s land surface.
