Planning For Teaching.

Effective teaching requires careful
planning. You as a teacher you may be
responsible for planning or adapting

You may also develop & plan new
courses.This takes thoughts ,time&
careful preparation.
Curriculum organization
 Planning and conducting an
educational programme:
The tasks involved in planning and conducting
an educational programme can be classified
into four major types, namely:
1. Deciding on the objectives;
2.Selecting learning experiences that will
contribute to the objectives;
Cont: Planning and conducting an
educational programme:

3. Organizing the learning experiences

to maximize their cumulative effect;
and
4. Evaluating the effectiveness of the
educational programme in attaining
its objectives through appraising the
educational progress of the students
The four C's of curriculum planning
(adapted from E. Krug.WHO,1998)

A programme prepared jointly by a group of

cooperative persons will be less liable to error than one
prepared by a single person.
The preparation of a programme is not
continuous a one-shot operation. In planning it,
provision should be made for its
continuing revision.
In an approach which accepts the
comprehensive interaction of all the programme
components, each must be defined with
the requisite precision.
General and abstract considerations are not
concrete a sufficient basis for drawing up a
programme. Concrete professional tasks
must constitute the essential structure of a
relevant programme.
cont:Planning and conducting an
educational programme:
Plan carefully for teaching by developing:
course syllabus, planning for students
assessment, selecting teaching
methods,
identifying learning materials&
developing
course schedule.

cont:Planning and conducting an
educational programme:
General Objectives: After completing
this lecture, the students will be
able to effectively plan for teaching
Specific Objectives: To meet this
objective, you will:
• Develop a course syllabus
• Plan for students assessment
cont:Planning and conducting an
educational programme:
• Select teaching methods
• Select & adapt learning abilities
• Develop a course schedule.
