INTRODUTION
Recreation or fun is the expenditure of time in a manner designed for
therapeutic refreshment of one's body or mind. While leisure is more
likely a form of entertainment or sleep, recreation is active for the participant
but in a refreshing and diverting manner. A time in which individuals are not
compelled to do anything, and are free to choose to relax or to take part in a
leisure activity. Leisure has important social functions, including relief from
the demands and restrictions of work.
Most people enjoy socializing with friends for dinner or a
drink after a hard day at work. For many young people, having a regular
night out a week is a normal part of their free time, whether it is joining
friends for a drink in a pub, dining out in a restaurant, watching a film, playing
video games or dancing at a club
JSTIFICATION OF THE PROJECT
Sports and cultural activities have been given secondary importance and are
quite a neglected aspect, particularly in huge metropolitan cities.
Recreation has many health benefits, and, accordingly, Therapeutic
Recreation has been developed to take advantage of this effect. The National
Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) is the nationally
recognized credentialing organization for the profession of Therapeutic
Recreation.
 The public nature of a RECREATIONAL CULTURAL CENTRE is a direct
consequence of a view of sporting activity as a pleasant social activity and an
effective means of promoting interpersonal communication.
Its designing would involve not only spatial design but also the structural
design is given equal weightage. Another aspect which the architect has to
consider is the various services involved. Therefore in dealing with a
RECREATIONAL CULTURAL CENTRE as a design thesis topic, scope for

ANALYSIS
The following chart illustrates the effect of the proposed change
for high density residential projects. The first column shows the
required Recreation Space for a residential development using
the current system. The second column shows the Recreation
Space that would be required if the applicant develops the
maximum allowable floor area under the proposed floor area
based system, but without a reduction. The following columns
show various reductions by percentage. The highlighted column
is the recommended 50% reduction.

SCOPE
This project can improve people’s mental health & can
improve people's enjoyment, coping skills, and
relationships, educational achievement, employment,
housing and economic potential, help reduce physical
health problems, ease healthcare and social care costs,
build social capital, and decrease suicides.

knowledge, provides a basic condition for a lifelong learning,
independent decision making and cultural development of the
individual and social groups.

accommodate new facilities, brings downs the options to
Hyderabad.
 This recreational & cultural Centre will have multi-
character but acts as a joint single entry in encouraging
Indian culture as well as improve people’s mental health
& can improve people's enjoyment, coping skills, and
relationships, educational achievement, employment,
housing and economic potential, help reduce physical

build social capital, and decrease suicides.
LIMITATIONS
• India is a culturally rich country. it cannot be
defined as following one single culture.as there are
more than 200 variations from region to region.so,
the space designed will only adhere to Indian
cultural aspects and not to any foreign cultures.
• The architectural language will vary for each cultural
pavilion but unite them as a whole through various
methodologies. The built form should integrate
with the existing city fabric as well as stand out
acting as global recognition for India.

manner in which we consume information. With the developments of new methods and types of media, the traditional role of a recreational
and cultural spaces is to question. The significance of the physical collection within a certain environment versus a quick internet search at any
given point of time within any environment, questions the sustainability of a public space and the resources it offers.
