 Introduction

Canlaon City is one of the most well-known place here in the

Province of Negros Oriental and is known as the vegetable basket
of Negros Island. Their agricultural harvests are being supplied in
the entire Negros Island Region and other neighbouring provinces.
The City is located 9.5 km from the foot of Mt. Kanlaon, which is why
some mountain climbers normally visit the city as their jump-off
point. Uptown market is the place where farmers bring their
harvested crops and sell it.
One of the main problem of Canlaon City is the improper
segregation of the rotten vegetables. It emits a strong offensive odor
that is bad to the health of the individuals living nearby. Many
families are complaining because of the foul odor.According to the
government organization commissioner exposure to environmental
odor can be an immediate health threat, a long term threat, or may
pose no health threat at all. Another problem is plastics that are
being thrown anywhere that causes clogs in the canals. Improper
segregation can lead to sickness because of human doings. That’s
why government officials in some barangay are doing their best to
promote a proper segregation to lessen the problems and complains
of the community. Still, some government officials are resolving the
said problems up until now.
B.Objectives/Targets
• To provide a solution for effective solid waste
management;
• to raise awareness about the importance of managing the
proper waste disposal;
• to provide proper and adequate waste disposal facility for
Uptown Market; and
• to eliminate the foul odor in the area.
C.Strategies/Activities

1. Conduct a seminar to the Sangguniang Kabataan.

2. Educate the indigenous people about proper waste
disposal every saturdays.
3. Do a clean up for a cause with the Barangay Officials.
4. Give a fliers about improper waste disposal.
5. Impost no plastic policy.
6. Decompose the rotten vegetables with the farmers.

• Proper waste disposal seminars with the Indigenous Every Saturday -until January only.
