TM4

 Wideband-PMI-Based Intra-TM4 Adaptation

1) SFBC
2) RI=1 Closed-loop spatial multiplexing
3) RI=2 Closed-loop spatial multiplexing

 Multi-PMI-Based Intra-TM4 Adaptation

 The eNodeB supports multi-PMI-based intra-TM4 adaptation for clos
ed-loop MIMO. Aperiodic modes1-2 are used for CQI feedback, the
UE feeds back sub-band PMI, and the eNodeB schedules transmissio
n resources based on the sub-band PMI feedback.

TM6

 The eNodeB supports TM6 transmission mode and intra-TM6 ad

aptation.
 Single-stream precoding transmission mode is used for TM6 and
dual-stream transmission is not available.
 The eNodeB supports TM2/TM3/TM4/TM6 adaptation.

TM3/TM4 Adaptation

 The eNodeB supports intra-TM3, Intra-TM4 adaptation and TM3/

TM4 adaptation for 2* 2 MIMO and 4*2 MIMO. V3.1 supports intr
a-TM3/TM4 adaptation and V3.2 supports TM3/TM4 adaptation i
n addition to intra-mode adaptation.

Algorithm Procedures- TM3

 2-Port Open-Loop MIMO

 The eNodeB supports intra-TM3 adaptation under the 2-port configuration. T
he transmission scheme options include SFBC and RI = 2 large-delay CDD.
 4-Port Open-Loop MIMO
 If 4 × 2 MIMO is used, the transmission scheme options include SFBC and RI
= 2 large-delay CDD. Compared with 2 × 2 MIMO, 4 × 2 MIMO has the same
algorithm procedure but different performance.
 If 4 × 4 MIMO is used, the transmission scheme options include SFBC, RI = 2 l
arge-delay CDD, RI = 3 large-delay CDD, and RI = 4 large-delay CDD. The RI
= 3 and RI = 4 transmission schemes are used, so the algorithm procedure is
different from that of 4 × 2 MIMO.

Algorithm Procedures- TM4

 Wideband-PMI-Based Intra-TM4 Adaptation

1. SFBC
2. RI=1 Closed-loop spatial multiplexing
3. RI=2 Closed-loop spatial multiplexing
 The algorithm is based on the RI reported by the UE and when RI = 1 algorith
m principle is maximizing throughput between SFBC and RI=1 Closed-loop sp
atial multiplexing.
 If RI (reported by the UE) = 2, the eNodeB determines RI=2 Closed-loop spati
al multiplexing.
 If RI (reported by the UE) = 1, the eNodeB calculates the frequency spectrum
efficiency of SFBC and RI=1 Closed-loop spatial multiplexing in real time and
determines the transmission scheme with the maximum frequency spectrum
efficiency.

Algorithm Procedures- TM4

 Multi-PMI-Based Intra-TM4 Adaptation

 For multi-PMI-based closed-loop multiplexing for TM4, the eNodeB uses the
sub-band PMI reported by the UE for scheduling, so the aperiodic CQI reporti
ng mode 1-2 must be used. The UE reports CQIs only if the eNodeB triggers
UE reporting, so a periodic timer is used to trigger aperiodic CQI reporting to
ensure time-effectiveness of sub-band PMIs.
 For the 1-2 reporting mode, sub-band PMI reporting sequences must be mai
ntained. If the UE reports the latest sub-band PMI, but the eNodeB does not r
eceive the PMI or determines the PMI as aperiodically reported information, t
he PMI information on the UE and eNodeB sides is different, and only wideba
nd PMI scheduling can be used.

Algorithm Procedures- TM6

 The periodic triggering method and scheduling triggering metho

d are used for TM2/TM3/TM4/TM6 adaptation.
 When the inter-mode adaptation triggering conditions are met, an inter-grou
p switching determination is made and then an intra-group switching determi
nation is made.
 If the UE is in the closed-loop group, the conditions for adaptation according
to the spatial correlation and beamforming gain are the same as TM4 conditi
ons in TM3/TM4 adaptation. If the frequency spectrum efficiency is low and t
here is a beamforming gain, the UE switches to TM6.
 If the UE is in the open-loop group, the UE tries switching to the closed-loop
group. If the switching fails, the UE stays in the open-loop group and switches
to TM2 if the frequency spectrum efficiency is low.

Algorithm Procedures- TM3/TM4 Adaptation

1. Triggering method
 The periodic triggering method and scheduling triggering method are used f
or TM3/TM4 adaptation, which means that inter-mode adaptation determinat
ion must meet the following conditions:
i. The time interval is greater than the threshold.
ii. The number of scheduling times is greater than the threshold.

2. Determination conditions
 Inter TM3/4 adaption based on spatial correlation and beamforming gain.
 When low spatial correlation and no beamforming gain, select TM3, orthewis
e select TM4.
